Call for Book Chapters

The importance of wetlands have been widely revered for decades. However, the worsening issues of global climate has highlighted the role and contributions of wetlands in mitigation of climate change and related issues. Wetlands across the world has been compromised by unplanned and unscrupulous anthropogenic activities. Recent scientific efforts have focused on reclamation and conservation of these wetlands. The inclusion of both theoretical and practical perspectives of wetland conservation in this book has significant implications for those involved in research as well as policy making. This new book discusses opportunities and challenges regarding wetland conservation and wise use of its resources.

This book is designed to be a comprehensive and multidisciplinary study of wetlands, which will unite the natural science perspective with strong social concerns and economic and other approaches in order to develop practical national wetlands conservation strategy and action plans. This chapters included in this book will aim to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and the latest empirical research findings in the wetland loss and conservation initiatives. The chapters will discuss long-term strategies for protecting wetlands involving local users and traditional knowledge. The major objective of this edited book is to highlight the challenges of wetland conservation and present status of existing wetland uses along losses due to anthropogenic activities. The book makes a strong case for the coordinated management of wetlands and outlines various social, economic and ecological indicators which can be used to assess the diverse management needs of different wetlands. It will also be written for professionals who want to improve their understanding of the strategic role of different stakeholders regarding conservational issues.

The holistic approach undertaken for designing the contents of this book will make this book important for academicians, researchers and other professionals alike. Discussions regarding Government initiatives and policies adopted in recent times for wetland management and sustainability will provide insights and guidance for executives concerned with the management of wetlands. The strategies covered in this book can help to identify the wetland loss estimation and can be applied for wetland conservation and policy making. Chapters included in this book will address scientific, engineering, economic, social and management aspects of wetland conservation to cater to a wider target audience. The holistic compilation of chapters in this book will be both informative and helpful for shaping future endeavors of researchers working on the same. The information compiled in this book will also be of special value to anyone who wishes to learn the different aspects of wetland conservation making the possession of this book an engaging, memorable, and impactful experience.
