The Therapeutic Role of Phytochemicals and Nutraceuticals addresses the growing use of natural bioactive compounds and phytochemicals for human health benefits. It presents new research on medical aspects of phytochemicals, the plant-based chemicals that are the compounds found in the plants and which possess biologically active properties that can be used for medicinal and food purposes.

The authors in the volume investigate the role of phytochemicals in treating human infectious diseases, including looking at plant-derived natural bioactive compounds as potential therapies for coronaviruses and other SARS-related infections. They continue on to look at the effective antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal activities of medicinal plants, herbs, and bioactive compounds in dietary and nutraceutical supplements, with an update on the results of preclinical and clinical trials. The role of natural bioactives in human noninfectious illnesses is reviewed for the prevention and management of a number of diseases such as for diabetes, fatty liver diseases, obesity, hypertension, wound healing, cancer, age-related diseases, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, etc.

This volume will help experts and practitioners as well as faculty and students to stay informed of the most up-to-date research in the advances in the use of phytochemicals and nutraceuticals in pharmacy and medicine in the continuously changing landscape in modern pharmacological and biomedical sciences.
