Description of the Book:

The intersection of environmental sustainability and artificial intelligence (AI) can be viewed as the transforming force catalyzing innovative solutions. By integrating technological advancement and environmental responsibility, this book will provide a new perspective, enlightening the convergence of AI with critical aspects of our ecosystem. Environmental sustainability is a fundamental element of sustainable development, which involves the protection of the environment and finding solutions confronted by ecosystems. The objective is to achieve a harmonious equilibrium between human activities and the environment. Tackling complex challenges across various domains necessitates innovative tools, and it is in this context that AI becomes pivotal. AI entails the creation of a computing system with the ability to perform tasks that traditionally demand human intelligence, such as problem-solving, pattern recognition, adaptability, and decision-making. Through analyzing extensive data and recognizing patterns, AI can offer insightful findings and contribute to evidence-based decision-making supporting initiatives for sustainable development. Some of the areas of environmental sustainability integrated with AI will be covered in this book under the areas of wastewater management, soil health monitoring, air pollution forecasting, energy efficiency, smart cities and expert systems for natural disasters, and ethical considerations that envision sustainable and contemporary advancements.

The aim of this book will be to comprehend and explore the various applications of AI in environmental sustainability. In addition, this book would serve as a valuable reference resource for undergradate students in disciplines such as Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, especially those undertaking projects on applications of artificial intelligence. Additionally, postgraduate students pursuing M.E., M.Tech., M.Sc., M.C.A., and MBA degrees will discover this book useful for their research projects. Research scholars working in the similar area will also find this book to be a valuable reference for their work.

The various areas covered in this book include, but are not limited to the following:

Chapter 1: Artificial Intelligence for Environmental Sustainability

Chapter 2: Artificial Intelligence in Wastewater Treatment: Trend and Status

Chapter 3: Application of AI in Soil Health Monitoring

Chapter 4: AI Technologies for Forecasting Air Pollution
