In a world undergoing rapid industrialization and urbanization, efficient remediation of inorganic, organic, and biological contaminants in our environment is the need of the hour. The use of nanomaterials for remediation efforts has been overlooked even though they present interesting characteristics as remediators. Sustainable Nanoremediation: Modern Technologies for a Clean Environment provides a valuable overview of low-cost and eco-friendly green synthesized nanomaterials as advantageous technology that promote efficient nanoremediation of environmental pollution for the restoration of polluted areas. It discusses the potential of nanomaterials, specifically green synthesized nanomaterials, as a practical and efficient solution towards sustainability.

The book details the advantages of green protocols to generate nanomaterials when compared to conventional physicochemical methods, such as avoiding the use of harmful reagents and reducing toxic waste production. Microbes and plants are discussed as a source for generating eco-friendly nanomaterials capable of remediating environmental contamination. The book addresses themes such as main contaminants associated with environmental pollution and the threats to humans; strategies of remediation that associate nanoremediation with microbes, plants, or amendments; and nanoparticles as tools for nanoremediation and their advantageous characteristics. The book also covers a brief history of green synthesis of nanomaterials.

The book goes in depth to discuss green methods to synthesize nanoremediators; algae-based and plant-based nanomaterials capable of remediating environmental pollution; different types of green nanoparticles capable of dealing with environmental pollutants such as iron, silver, palladium, copper, Prussian blue, titanium and gold nanoparticles; biocompatibility of green nanomaterials; and practical difficulties in the application of green nanoparticles to nanoremediate.

Sustainable Nanoremediation: Modern Technologies for a Clean Environment offers researchers, faculties, and students multidisciplinary and comprehensive knowledge on green nanoremediation, from a biotechnological point of view.
