The concept of sustainable development was described in the United Nations‘ 1987 Bruntland Commission Report as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” This new volume presents an eclectic selection of chapters that aim to integrate social, economic, and environmental objectives. Through studies and research on sustainable development, the book presents the concept of sustainable development in various manifestations along with its challenges and its advantages.

The book looks at sustainability in the interrelationship of business, manufacturing, finance, etc. It discusses the impact of India‘s CSR Policy 2013 and analyses the innovation activity of the country‘s manufacturing firms and the relation between sustainable innovation and corporate social responsibility. It explores how new financial technology (or Fintech) can help foster sustainable finance and the role of digitization and AL in achieving sustainability goals.

The book considers the importance of cultural sustainability and also presents several sustainability-promoting strategies affecting the environment, such as addressing the mitigation of marine plastic pollution and reusing plastic waste to make eco-bricks. Other topics include the development of sustainable smart cities, a case study of sustainability at the local level, such as marigold cultivation for socioeconomic sustainability.

Other topics include the development of sustainable smart cities, a case study of sustainability at the local level, such as marigold cultivation for socioeconomic sustainability.

Providing a diverse collection of topics in the broad field of sustainability development and management, this volume will give much food for thought for business leaders and industry professionals, governmental policymakers, environmentalists, as well as for faculty and students in sustainability science.
