Herbal nutraceuticals demonstrate a variety of therapeutic benefits and have been found to prevent, treat, and even cure a range of diseases. They are thus important as a future for the prevention and treatment of diseases.

This new book, Herbals as Nutraceuticals: Their Role in Healthcare, provides insight into nutraceuticals and their function in human health. It describes the current scenario of herbal nutraceutical products and their global demand. It also provides information on the nutraceutical potential of herbal drugs, illustrates the ayurvedic system of medicine, and describes the nutraceutical properties of various medicinal herbs. It details the role of nutraceuticals in treating diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, obesity, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.

The book comprises 14 chapters in three parts and describes the role of herbal nutraceuticals in managing and preventing different diseases. The first part provides an overview of herbal nutraceuticals and their prospects in the current scenario and in the near future. The second part details the role of herbal nutraceuticals in combating diseases, with chapters discussing different conditions, including cancer, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, skincare, while highlighting important properties of herbs, including their antimicrobial properties, immune-inflammatory properties, etc. The third part covers topics that include the use of herbs as supplements and other recent advancements in herbal nutraceuticals.

With the main focus of the book on herbal-based products for the wellness industry, a fast-growing industry all over the world, this new book will be valuable for researchers, dieticians, and academia in their research on developing novel herbal nutraceutical formulations with high efficiency and few side effects.

Raj K. Keservani, MPharm, is a Faculty of B. Pharmacy, CSM Group of Institutions, Allahabad, India. He has more than 12 years of academic (teaching) experience from various institutes of India in pharmaceutical education. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers in the field of pharmaceutical sciences in national and international journals, over 40 book chapters, three co-authored books, and over 20 edited books. He is also active as a reviewer for several international scientific journals. Mr. Keservani is a life member of Society of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (SPER). His research interests include nutraceutical and functional foods, novel drug delivery systems (NDDS), transdermal drug delivery/drug delivery, health science, cancer biology, and neurobiology. Mr. Keservani graduated with a pharmacy degree from the Department of Pharmacy, Kumaun University, Nainital (Uttarakhand), India. He received his Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) (specialization in pharmaceutics) from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, India.

Rajeshwar Kamal Kant Arya, PhD, MPharm
Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sir J.C. Bose Technical Campus Bhimtal, Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand, India

Rajeshwar Kamal Kant Arya, PhD, has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sir J.C. Bose Technical Campus Bhimtal, Kumaun University Nainital, India, for the last 14 years. He has more than 25 research papers to his credit in national and international journals of repute. He has presented more than ten papers so far at various conferences, seminars, and workshops. He has also filed two Indian patents recently. He has authored many chapters in edited books in varied domains of pharmaceutical sciences. He is also serving on the editorial board of several prestigious national and international journals. He has guided more than 55 MPharm students and is currently supervising four PhD scholars. He completed his graduation and PhD from Kumaun University, Nainital and his master’s from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, India.

Rajesh K. Kesharwani, PhD, MTech, is working as Associate Professor, Department of Computer Application, Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University), Prayagraj, India. He has more than 11 years of research and nine years of teaching experience at various institutes of India, imparting bioinformatics and biotechnology education. He has received several awards, including the NASI-Swarna Jayanti Puruskar by The National Academy of Sciences of India. He has supervised one PhD and more than 20 undergraduate and graduate students for their research work. Dr. Kesharwani has authored over 49 peer-reviewed articles, 20 book chapters, and 14 edited books with international publishers. He has been a member of many scientific communities as well as a reviewer for many international journals. He has presented many papers at various national and international conferences. He has been a recipient of a Ministry of Human Resource Development (India) Fellowship and a Senior Research Fellowship from the Indian Council of Medical Research, India. His research fields of interest are medical informatics, protein structure and function prediction, computer-aided drug designing, structural biology, drug delivery, cancer biology, nanobiotechnology, and biomedical sciences. Dr. Kesharwani received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, and worked at NIT Warangal for two semesters.
