Antioxidants and nutraceuticals have gained significant attention in recent years due to their potential to protect against diseases and improve overall health. This new volume explores the exciting and rapidly growing field of natural compounds with health-promoting properties.

Providing a comprehensive overview of antioxidants and nutraceuticals, including their sources, mechanisms of action, and health benefits, the volume covers the latest research on a range of antioxidants and nutraceuticals, including vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals, and provides practical information on their safe and effective use. The book also addresses the challenges and controversies surrounding the use of antioxidants and nutraceuticals and provides guidance on their selection and use.

The volume first covers the basics of types of antioxidants as nutraceuticals, including the importance of phytochemical antioxidants and the nutritional and pharmacological intervention in the treatment of disease. It discusses the natural origins of antioxidants, classification, mechanism of action, calculation of antioxidant potential of nutraceutical substances, safety, toxicity, and their significant involvement in the prevention of many degenerative and chronic diseases.

The volume presents novel strategies of antioxidants in the treatment of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, chronic inflammatory diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, and diabetes mellitus. Chapters also look at a variety of functional foods that are rich in antioxidants.
