Solid waste management is a critical global challenge that intersects with environmental conservation, public health, and sustainable development goals. As urbanization and population growth continue, the volume of waste generated worldwide is increasing at an unprecedented rate. Consequently, there is a pressing need for innovative and sustainable approaches to solid waste management.

The proposed new book, Advancing Sustainability: Data Analytics and Smart Technologies in Solid Waste Management, is born out of the recognition that traditional waste management methods are insufficient to address the complexity of modern waste challenges. This new book seeks a comprehensive and up-to-date exploration of how data analytics and smart technologies revolutionize solid waste management.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-masked peer-review editorial process. For manuscripts, we require an e-copy of the full chapter submitted in Word on an A4-sized paper with no line numbering, a line spacing of 1.5, Times New Roman 11-point font size, margins top/bottom of 1”, margins left/right of 1.25”, and editable equations using an equation editor in MS-WORD 2020. A typical chapter will include the title, author(s) with affiliation/email/mailing address/Orcid ID introduction, literature review if applicable, theoretical approach if appropriate, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusions, summary, detailed list of keywords, references using numbering system and alphabetical order, any appendix, etc. Also, we prefer a numbering system for citations in the body of a chapter. Tables and figures should be included in the text at the right place after their citation. The selected and reviewed chapters will be published by a reputed and renowned onternational publisher, Apple Academic Press/Taylor and Francis Group.

Moharana Choudhury is a researcher and environmentalist from Guwahati, Assam, India. He has completed his education as an M.Sc., PGDGIS, PGDEM, and PGCGARD from Gurukul Kangri Deemed to be University, Haridwar, Uttrakhand, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong Meghalaya, Tezpur University, Assam, and NIRD Hyderabad, respectively. Choudhury has worked on various scientific projects in various Government departments and has more than 11 years of research and working experience in the field of environment. He began his career as a research intern at the National Institute of Disaster Management in New Delhi, followed by the North Eastern Space Application Center/ISRO Unit (Department of Space, Government of India) as a Junior Research Fellow. Choudhury has authored or edited five (5) books with internationally reputed publication houses and more than thirty one (31) articles in national and internationally reputed journals, proceedings, and more than (26) twenty-six book chapters. He has written many articles and scientific reports in popular magazines. Choudhury is working on various environmental conservation activities in Assam and the country. He has worked on several initiatives to integrate environmentally sustainable projects for iconic heritage places, wetlands, and ecotourism spots in Assam, India, especially for cleanliness and beating single-use plastic pollution missions. He contributes to various environmental research, management, social media mass awareness, and research studies. He is also well known in India for his efforts to implement environmental education and safeguard the privileges of environmental degree holders in India.

Sushobhan Majumdar
Group ‘A’ Officer, M.A & M.E. Department, Government of West Bengal, Kolkata, India

Sushobhan Majumdar is an applied geographer who holds a doctorate in geography from the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Science at Jadavpur University in Kolkata and a postgraduate degree from Presidency University in Kolkata. He is presently engaged in research on the design and development of cities’ geographies. Urban geography, social geography, regional development and planning, remote sensing and GIS, and transport geography are among his main areas of study. Additionally, he is working on different development projects for the Government of West Bengal’s Socio Economic Planning Unit of the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). He has 51 research papers published in a variety of reputable journals, proceedings, and edited volumes both nationally and internationally. He has already authored three edited volumes for Springer Nature and Routledge Group on urban-related issues. In excess of 30 national and international seminars and conferences, both in India and overseas, he has presented papers. He gave guest or special talks as part of numerous national and regional programs. He holds memberships in the Geographical Society of India, the Regional Science Association of India (RSAI), the Institute of Indian Geographers (IIG), and the National Association of Geographers of India (NAGI). He has recently been heavily involved in mapping and simulating surface temperatures in Indian metropolises and their effects on the environment.

Avnish Chauhan
Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Science, Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, India

Avnish Chauhan currently working as Associate Professor at Department of Environmental Science, Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He has more than 16 years teaching experience. He has published more than 47 national and international research papers and edited and written about 37 text and reference books. He is M.Sc., NET, Ph.D. (Environmental Science) and Awarded with Gold Medal by Indian Academy of Environmental Sciences for his contribution. He has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Higher Education and Research. His current study focuses on the control of solid waste pollution and the impact of air pollution on plants. He participates in numerous environmental research projects, guest lectures, social media awareness campaigns, and research investigations. Avnish Chauhan also organized national and international conferences and seminars. He has written (a total of 105 papers, all in science). There will be 68 peer-reviewed full-length papers published up until August 2023, along with 50 conferences, 5 authored books (one of which is published by Wiley), over 32 edited books, 23 chapters (some of which are from Taylor & Francis and Springer), and more. He has 1246 citations with an H-index of 16 (Google Scholar).
