New innovative treatment methods in pharmaceutical technology have the potential to revolutionize healthcare, offering newfound hope to patients with conditions that were once thought to be incurable. This comprehensive new two-volume reference provides detailed explanations of the procedures involved in the development and manufacture of biopharmaceuticals as well as the uses and applications in healthcare and medicine.

The books cover the uses of novel technologies for production, formulation, and synthesis of biological substances from the living organisms, which act as drug molecules for the treatment and/or prevention of various diseases and/or syndromes. Expanding beyond the scope of manufacturing, the books also explore the practical uses of biopharmaceuticals, demonstrating their effectiveness in the treatment of various illnesses, such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and infectious diseases. The books also delve into the difficulties and possibilities linked to the advancement of biopharmaceuticals, offering valuable perspectives on the future of this swiftly changing domain.

Volume 1: Exploring Cutting-Edge Innovations and Applications first offers an introduction and overview of pharmaceutical technology, covering the principals and science of biotechnology. It then goes on to discuss specific pharmaceutical biotechnologies, including:

  • genetic engineering, a process that uses laboratory-based technologies to alter the DNA makeup of an organism;
  • protein engineering, to develop valuable proteins through the design and production of unnatural polypeptides;
  • recombinant DNA technology, which involves using enzymes and various laboratory techniques to manipulate and isolate DNA segments of interest; and
  • microbial biotransformation, which is vital to human survival because it transforms absorbed nutrients (food, oxygen, etc.) into substances required for normal body functions.
Volume 2: Current Developments in Biopharmaceuticals delves further into pharmaceutical technology, covering a broad range of specialized areas.

With the comprehensive coverage presented here, the two-volume Advances in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology will be an invaluable reference book for the students of pharmacy and biotechnology as well as an excellent resource for pharmacy industry professionals and others.
