Zaman, PhD Director, School of Agricultural Sciences, Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata, India A. Zaman, PhD, is an internationally renowned scientist who has been specializing in agricultural water management during his career of 40 years. Dr. Zaman served as an Irrigation Agronomist and was formerly Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Director of Research, and Head of the Department of Agronomy at Bidhan Chandra Agricultural University in West Bengal, India. He is a former Chief Scientist in the All India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRP) on Water Management (ICAR) and former Associate Director of Research at the Regional Research Station, Old Alluvial Zone (presently UBKV, Pundibari), India. Dr. Zaman also worked as Head of the Irrigation Expatriate Team, Government of Uganda, for a 2–year period under an ITEC Programme deputed by the Government of India to design, layout, and installation of small-scale irrigation management systems for farms for sustainable crop cultivation. A prolific author and researcher, he has published many research papers in international journals and conference proceedings, book chapters, and books. He has organized and been a speaker at many conferences, workshops, technical sessions, etc. Other roles include Programme Coordinator in World Bank’s West Bengal Accelerated Development of Minor Irrigation Project; Emeritus Professor at the M. S. Swaminathan School of Agriculture, CUTM, Paralakhemundi, Odisha; Professor and Founder In-charge, Agriculture, of The Neotia University, among others.
