Due to advent of the stateoftheart technologies in the field of biotechnology, much progress has been achieved since the last decade. OMICS technologies are being extensively used to address various issues pertaining to agriculture. Recent advances in genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics techniques have revolutionized the understanding of genetic response of plants to various biotic and abiotic stresses. Strategic application of this revolutionary technology will eventually lead towards attaining sustainability in agriculture. This new book, Plant OMICS and Crop Breeding, addresses this important issue.

Plant OMICS and Crop Breeding covers various OMICS approaches (genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics) that are being used or can be used for the improvement of crop plants, specifically in mining potential candidate molecules to address unsolved problems related to agriculture. Covering both basic research (plant OMICS) as well as applied research (crop breeding), the book reviews most of the advanced techniques being used in plant biotechnology. The information found here will help agriculture scientists and researchers in using this applied research to focus on better crop breeding

This book is unique in that while many books on plant genomics or plant proteomics concentrate on technological aspects, this book covers updated technological aspects in plant omics and provides details of crop breeding as a tool for utilizing the basic research for crop improvement.
