Prakash, PhD, is Director of Research at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur U.P., India, where he was formerly Joint Director of Research. In these positions, he contributed in the execution, monitoring, and impact assessment of R&D of various research projects, leading to the development of 43 high-yielding cultivars and 105 agro-techniques. He was instrumental in organizing many seminars/webinars/advanced trainings for capacity building of postgraduate students and faculty under a World Bank supported project for 4,300 students across the country to enhance their research competency, entrepreneurship development, and subject competitiveness. He has completed research projects in the area of animal nutrition, forage production, farming-system-based research, and diversification and intensification-based operational research, with several projects in operation currently. To his credit, Dr. Prakash has 10 technologies, over 250 outreach activities, and more than 200 publications. Swapna, PhD Principal Scientist, Division of Crop Improvement, ICAR–Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow, India M. Swapna, PhD, is Principal Scientist in the Division of Crop Improvement at ICAR–Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow, India. She joined the Agriculture Research Service under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in 1998 and is working on sugarcane genetic improvement, making use of conventional as well as nonconventional tools. She is involved in sugarcane improvement programs, including pre-breeding strategies for improving sugar content and varietal development. She is the part of a team that has developed improved sugarcane varieties for subtropical sugarcane growing areas of the country. She is also engaged in molecular investigations related to sugar accumulation, especially molecular marker development and its applications in sugarcane improvement. Solomon, PhD, was previously Vice Chancellor at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur U.P., India, where he was given the Dr. Sampoornanand Rangbharti Award and ICN awards, acknowledging his relentless contribution to agricultural education and research. He was also Director of the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow, where he was actively involved in the development and transfer of relevant technologies to sugarcane farmers and industry for the sustainable development of the Indian sugar industry.
