Medicinal chemistry and pharmacology are closely associated fields, and the use of natural products for their medicinal properties is ever-growing. The study of drugs from natural products and their effects on the living body are explored in this volume. The book looks into the research, discovery and characterization of the chemicals that exhibit biological effects. Providing an informative compilation of research, valuable case studies, and review of existing literature in the area, the book focuses on the ethnobotanical uses of natural products and phytochemicals for health care, including applications for diabeties, ulcers, wound healing, managing chronic alcoholism, hemorrhoidal treatment, cancer mitigation, pain management, immunotherapy, and more. The book briefly describes bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, innovations, and societal applications. He was formerly Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Kamla Nehru College of Pharmacy, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur, India. He has taught medicinal and computational chemistry at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has mentored students in their various research projects. His area of interest includes computer-assisted rational designing and synthesis of low molecular weight ligands against druggable targets, drug delivery systems, and optimization of unconventional formulations. He has published research, book chapters, reviews, and case studies in various reputed journals and has presented his work at several international platforms, for which he has received several awards by a number of bodies. He has also authored the book titled Drug Design. Presently, he is serving as a reviewer and editorial board member for several journals of international repute. He is a member of a number of professional and scientific societies, such as the International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID), the International Science Congress Association (ISCA), and ISEI. Cristóbal Noé Aguilar, PhD Director of Research and Postgraduate Programs at Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila, Mexico Cristóbal Noé Aguilar, PhD, is Director of Research and Postgraduate Programs at Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila, Mexico. Dr. Aguilar has published more than 160 papers in indexed journals, more than 40 articles in Mexican journals, and 250 contributions in scientific meetings. He has also published many book chapters, several Mexican books, four editions of international books, and more. He has been awarded several prizes and awards; the most important are the National Prize of Research 2010 from the Mexican Academy of Sciences; the Prize “Carlos Casas Campillo 2008” from the Mexican Society of Biotechnology and Bioenegineering; National Prize AgroBio–2005 and the Mexican Prize in Food Science and Technology. Dr. Aguilar is a member of the Mexican Academy of Science, the International Bioprocessing Association, Mexican Academy of Sciences, Mexican Society for Biotechology and Bioengineering, and the Mexican Association for Food Science and Biotechnology. He has developed more than 21 research projects, including six international exchange projects. His PhD in Fermentation Biotechnology was awarded by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Mexico. A. Haghi, PhD Professor Emeritus of Engineering Sciences; Former Editor-in-Chief, International Journal of Chemoinformatics and Chemical Engineering and Polymers Research Journal; Member, Canadian Research and Development Center of Sciences and Culture A. K. Haghi, PhD, is the author and editor of over 165 books, as well as over 1000 published papers in various journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Haghi has received several grants, consulted for a number of major corporations, and is a frequent speaker to national and international audiences. Since 1983, he served as professor at several universities. He is former Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Chemoinformatics and Chemical Engineering and Polymers Research Journal and is on the editorial boards of many international journals.
