Reviews
“This book will, in my belief, be helpful for healthcare professionals in treating neurodegenerative disorders. It will give readers profound insights into the recent uses of several cutting-edge nanocarriers that contain active pharmaceutical ingredients for the effective treatment of illnesses connected to neurons.”
—From the Foreword by Dr. Brahmeshwar Mishra, Professor (HAG Scale) and Former Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology, IIT (BHU), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India

With the population getting older and with a corresponding increase in neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) worldwide, developing drug delivery systems that can overcome conventional barriers in treating these diseases is the need of the hour. Drug delivery by nanotechnology has great promise for detecting and treating a wide range of neurodegenerative conditions. This new book provides an informative overview of the cutting-edge applications of various nanocarriers that encapsulate active compounds to effectively treat NDs.

Providing a comprehensive review of neurological disorders, clinical strategies for the management of neuro disorders, and the challenges in their treatment, the book first reviews the types, diagnosis, and treatment strategies, including biomarkers in detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of neurodegenerative disorders. It then provides an overview of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) transport mechanisms. It discusses specific techniques such as the delivery of RNA/DNA to the brain using nanoscience, nanodiamonds as emerging nanotherapeutics for brain-targeted drug delivery, the use of herbal nano-formulations, and more.

Clinical researchers and other scientists working to reduce the obstacles to delivering drugs and genes in a more efficient and targeted manner for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases will find Nanomedical Drug Delivery for Neurodegenerative Diseases to be an invaluable resource.
