Shkir, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, King Khalid University (KKU), Abha, Saudi Arabia, since 2013. He plays a key role in the development of the Advanced Functional Materials and Optoelectronics Laboratory in the Physics Department at KKU. Dr. Shkir has published over 250 research papers in high-impact international and national journals, and with over 3,500 citations, he has an h-index-31, i10-index 119, RG score 42.334. He also has an international patent on a solar-cell fabrication system [ES2527976 (A1) 2015-02-02]. His area of research includes nano-synthesis of different kinds of materials for biomedical, optoelectronic, photodetectors, radiation detection, etc., applications. He has led many research groups and is currently leading a research group on “Investigation on novel class of materials (INCM)” at KKU. He has received many awards, including the Award for Revolutionary Findings; DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award; IAAM Young Scientist Medal 2018, Singapore; MNRE-SEC-Research Associate; among others. Ajeet Kumar Kaushik, PhD Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Florida Polytechnic University, Lakeland, Florida, USA Ajeet Kumar Kaushik, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Florida Polytechnic University, Lakeland, Florida, USA. He is exploring nanotechnology, materials science, thin films, miniaturized sensors, electrochemistry, electrochemical biosensors, nanomedicine, drug delivery to CNS, and biomedical engineering for health wellness. Prior to his move to Polytech, he has worked as an Assistant Professor to explore “magnetic nanomedicine along with drug delivery to the brain for the CND diseases management and miniaturized electrochemical sensing systems for personalized health wellness†at the Center of Personalized Nanomedicine, Institute of NeuroImmune Pharmacology at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University (FIU), Miami USA. He is the recipient of various reputed awards for his service in the area of nanobiotechnology for health care. His excellent research credentials are reflected by his four edited books, 100 international research peer-reviewed publications, and three patents in the area of nanomedicine and smart biosensors for personalized health care. In the course of his research, Dr. Kaushik has been engaged in design and development of various electro-active nanostructures for electrochemical biosensor and nanomedicne for health care. His research interests include nanobiotechnology, analytical systems, design and develop nanostructures, nanocarriers for drug delivery, nano-therapeutics for CNS diseases, on-demand site-specific release of therapeutic agents, exploring personalized nano-medicines, biosensors, point-of-care sensing devices, and related areas of health care monitoring. Salem AlFaify, PhD Associate Professor of Physics, Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, King Khalid University (KKU), Abha, Saudi Arabia Salem AlFaify, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Physics, leader of the “quantum functional materials for advanced applications†research group, and a leading researcher at the Advanced Functional Materials and Optoelectronics Laboratory at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, King Khalid University, Abha, Saudi Arabia. He was President of the Saudi Physical Society from 2013 to 2016. He has authored and co-authored more than 220 articles in ISI journals. He works with collaborators and researchers with mutual interests from many institutes and universities around the world. His research is primarily in the area of the condensed matter physics at the nano-scale, in particular, the correlation nature of the nano-quantum structures and their properties and applications. In addition to the growth of varying forms of nanostructured materials and their basic characterization by XRD, SEM, TEM, etc., he is interested in utilizing the powerful techniques related to accelerators physics, such as the ion beam analysis (IBA) and synchrotron radiation to fundamentally investigate the essence of nanomaterials and understand and engineer their novel properties for modern and futuristic applications. Dr. AlFaify obtained his PhD in condensed matter physics/nano-materials from Western Michigan University, USA. He was awarded a thesis appointment scholarship from the Department of Energy (DOE-USA) to conduct his PhD research project in the Center for Nano-scale Material (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), one of the dominant national laboratories of the DOE-USA, operated and managed by the University of Chicago. |
