Reviews “This book reviews the recent progress in the application of engineered nanopolymers and nanoparticles and their composites. It reads more like a collection of research papers but with more instruction so that the reader without a direct background in the topic can still understand and benefit from the paper. Topics mainly cover how nanomaterials can be used to reinforce or strengthen composites, provide UV protection, biological applications, and methods for manufacturing nanofibers. Since it can be difficult to experiment with nanomaterials, modeling efforts have been used to predict material behavior. Many of the papers present modeling or simulation information on nanocomposites. This may provide a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that are responsible for enhancing the nanocomposite blends. Advantages and limitations of new materials are also discussed. Some topic examples include the influence of a strong electric field on electrical, transport, and diffusion properties of carbon nanostructures; nanocomposites blended with polyethylene; UV protectors; analysis of surface energy of metal/ carbon nanocomposites; a comprehensive review of creating nanofibers with the electrospinning process; and a very detailed review on the application of nanofibers for energy and the environment. With a broad mix of material development, modeling, and applications, this book will offer the most to researchers involved with nanomaterial composites and associated processes.” —IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, November/December 2016 Now Available in Paperback CONTENTS: About the Authors / Editors: Editors: A. AAP support has been truly important throughout the initial and final stages of the book. While the majority of the publishing work is done at the early stages, the final touches that include the last-minute corrections of the authors are extremely crucial to the quality the book tries to convey. The assistance of AAP during the last stages of corrections and communication with the authors was a very positive contributor to my state of mind during those stressful moments. I recommend the publishing experience with AAP to other editors of scientific material.” —Stavros Hatzopoulos, PhD, Hearing Science Laboratory, University Hospital of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy AAP book title: Nanotechnologies: The Physics of Nanomaterials (2-volume set) “I was very pleased with the interaction and support of the team at Apple Academic Press.
