Reviews
“A timely addition to the micro irrigation literature. This book, besides the basics of soil-water-plant interactions, includes topics such as methods for soil moisture measurement; evapotranspiration; principles of drip/ micro/trickle irrigation; filtration systems; automation; chlorination; service and maintenance; design and evaluation of drip system; economic analysis for selecting irrigation technology. The most important contribution of this book is the glossary of technical terms and the chapter-wise rich bibliography containing large number of citations of the books, bulletins, proceedings and technical papers. We hope that students of agricultural engineering, teachers, researchers, system designers, farm managers will find this book useful.”
—ICID News (International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage)

“Dr. Goyal has spent his professional career learning and teaching the practice of drip/trickle and micro-irrigation. In this text, readers may access the combined knowledge of Dr. Goyal and his engineering colleagues for improved water application and management techniques.”
-- Kenneth H. Solomon, PhD, PE, Founding Director, Fresno Center for Irrigation Technology, California; Past Chairman and Professor of the BioResource and Agricultural Engineering Department, California Polytechnic State University

“Professor Goyal is a reputed agricultural engineer in the world and has wide knowledge and experience in soil and water conservation engineering, particularly in drip irrigation. [The book] brings experience and knowledge about drip irrigation. A valuable book.”
--Dr. R. K. Sivanappan, Former Dean and Professor, College of Agricultural Engineering and Founding Director of the Water Technology Centre at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India

“The publication of this book is an indication that things are beginning to change, that we are beginning to realize the importance of water conservation to minimize hunger. In providing this resource, Dr. Goyal has done an unselfish job in the presentation of this manual, which is simple, thorough, complete, and useful during the world economic crisis.”
--Gajendra Singh, PhD, President, Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers; Former Vice Chancellor, Doon University, Dehradun, India
