The world Muslim population is expected to increase to 2.2 billion by 2030–up from 1.9 billion today, and correspondingly, it is expected that Muslim international travel will increase as well, with the Muslim travel market expected to contribute $225 billion in spending by 2028. The increase in the welfare and education level of Muslim tourists with religious sensitivity has led Muslim tourists to have holidays by following the religious rules of Islam. This development, along with the increasing appetite of operators and marketers who want to take part in this field, has revealed halal tourism as a rapidly growing tourism market. This new volume, Halal Tourism: Achieving Muslim-Friendly Tourism Destinations, focuses on this expanding area of tourism wherein tourism activities are carried out in accordance with Islamic principles, forming the basis of the concept “halal tourism.”

The result of the meticulous efforts of many minds from India, Bangladesh, Turkey, Malaysia, China, Morocco, Indonesia, Italy, and Uzbekistan, the volume investigates new innovative business opportunities for halal tourism services, halal tourism in social ecosystem management, the impact of halal hotel service quality on hotel prices, an evaluation of a halal expo fair, e-commerce as a sales channel for halal food, and more. A chapter even covers Muslim-friendly eco-tourism as a solution to global problems.

This volume will be of interest and value to tourism professionals and operators who are interested in studying and taking advantage of the growing opportunity to attract and provide sensitive quality services for the halal market.
