Reviews
“Gene therapy is an important emerging strategy for treating neurodegenerative disorders . . . This book comprises content related to advances in gene therapies including newly emerging RNA- and DNA-based gene therapies for neurodegenerative disorders. . . . Highly appreciated and is of immense use as [the authors] highlight advances in the development and application of gene-based therapies for neurodegenerative diseases and offer a prospective look into this emerging arena. . . . A useful source for readers and also for researchers as it provides the better understanding of the onset and progression of the neurodegenerative disorders that will facilitate prompt diagnosis and target selection and can ensure early treatment of these diseases.”
—From the Foreword by Dr. Brahmeshwar Mishra, Professor (HAG Scale) and Former Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering & Technology, IIT (BHU), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India

Neurological illnesses pose one of the biggest hazards to the healthcare system today. The range of pharmacotherapeutics currently available have a range of palliative effects and are ineffective in treating such neurological illnesses. This new book, Gene Therapy for Neurological Disorders: Molecular Approaches for Targeted Treatment, brings together the latest methods of gene therapy that can be used to treat both inherited and sporadic neurodegenerative diseases.

The book presents the most significant advances in gene transfer methods as well as the most recent understandings of the mechanisms behind specific neurodegenerative illnesses, placing these into the context of gene therapy approaches for the central nervous system. The book introduces the basics of neurodegenerative conditions and its physiological basis for their occurrence in humans. It also discusses the various proteins useful in neuro diseases and their viral applications. The book explores how stem cells can be used to learn about the future of gene therapy along with the significance of the sequences that silence genes. It discusses the functionS of astrocytes in the various brain regions, as well as in-vivo research in gene therapy for neurodegenerative disorders.

With the latest information on gene therapy in treating neurological disorders, this book is a comprehensive resource on the topic of gene therapy for neurological conditions. This volume will help pharmacologists, clinical researchers, and others to find a solution to treating neurological illnesses.
