Scope of the Book:
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of seventeen interlinked objectives designed to serve as a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future (Isnaeni et al. (2022), United Nations (2017)). Out of the seventeen interlinked objectives, fifth objective is Gender Equality with targets including end all forms of discrimination against women and girls worldwide, violence against women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other forms of exploitation, and harmful practices such as child, early, and forced marriage and female genital mutilation; recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work through the provision of public services, infrastructure, and social protection policies; and promote shared responsibility.

During the last several decades, throughout the majority of the world, enrollment and graduation rates of females in basic and higher education institutions have increased dramatically. The engagement of women in a variety of economic and political spheres has also increased dramatically. Yet, gender equality remains a distant objective, since girls and women are disadvantaged in terms of access to education and health facilities, as well as participation in and compensation from the labor force. To accomplish the fifth of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, namely gender equality, it is essential to determine where and how gender disparities exist, as well as their causes.

Equitable Growth with Women’s Empowerment to Mitigate Gender Inequality:
In addition to metrics of economic growth, the idea of growth may also involve education, health, and environmental sustainability. Equitable growth means an economy that raises living standards for all families, which indicated fairly distribution of the socioeconomic facilities and simultaneously improve the distribution of economic well-being and economic growth with mitigating gender inequality. On the other hand, women’s empowerment can be defined in a variety of ways, including accepting women’s perspectives, making an effort to seek them out, and raising the status of women through education, awareness, literacy, and training in order to increase the women’s labor force participation, participation in family decision-making, and political position, and to reduce gender inequality.
