This informative new book takes an interdisciplinary look at agricultural and food production and how new engineering practices can be used to enhance production. With contributions from international experts from India, Russia, China, Serbia, and USA, Engineering Practices for Agricultural Production and Water Conservation: An Interdisciplinary Approach presents a selection of chapters from international experts on some of these new and emerging practices, focusing on
  • soil and water conservation and management
  • agricultural processing engineering
  • water quality and management
  • emerging agricultural crops
  • renewable energy use in agriculture
  • applications of nanotechnology in agriculture
With a growing world population and with continuing food and water shortages in areas of the world, food production needs the application of the latest technologies to conserve water, use fertilizer effectively, and reduce waste. The book’s aim is to connect interdisciplinary research areas and to remove the research gap to provide information that can be applied in practice.

The chapters emphasize engineering technology in conjunction with
  • soil and water conservation and management practices
  • methods of rainwater harvesting
  • sustainable ground water in hard rock areas
  • methods of drainage for increasing crop production
  • precision application of fertilizer
  • agricultural processing to save food grains from wastage
  • potential of renewable sources from solid biomass
  • medicinal and aromatic plants farming
This book will provide valuable information for scientists, researchers, farmers, industry professionals, and students and faculty all over the world who need to stay abreast of the latest engineering technology in food and agricultural production.
