This book focuses on the recent cutting-edge advances and applications in tropical agriculture and bioresources. It outlines some of the newest advances, basic tools, and the applications of novel approaches to improve agricultural practices and utilization of bioresources for the enhancement of human life. Mohamad Faiz Foong Abdullah, DPhil, is currently Associate Professor in the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia. He graduated with a degree in microbiology from the University of Malaya and completed his DPhil in molecular genetics as a Islamic Development Bank Merit Scholar at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. Subsequently, he was awarded an international grant from the Wellcome Trust as a visiting research fellow in the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. His responsibilities include teaching, research, and administration. His main area of research is in genetic engineering and cellular biology of the model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae and microbiology. He is also a member of the Genetic Modification Advisory Committee under the National Biosafety Board.

Mohd Tajudin Bin Mohd Ali, PhD
Faculty of Applied Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia

Mohd Tajudin Bin Mohd Ali, PhD, is a senior lecturer (organic chemistry) at the Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Industrial Chemistry from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), followed by Diploma in Education from Maktab Perguruan Raja Melewar, a Master in Science (natural product) from UPM, and PhD (organic synthesis) from the University of Regensburg, Germany. He was the author of the books Simplified Approach to the Mole Concept and Modern Methods in Organic Chemistry and Chemical Waste Management, published by UPENA. He is the author of Perancangan Sintesis Kimia Organik, published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. He also was the author and co-author for more than 20 research papers in the area of organic synthesis, peptide synthesis, and natural product synthesis.

Farida Zuraina M. Yusof, PhD
Associate Professor, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia

Farida Zuraina M. Yusof is currently Associate Professor in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, at the Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia. She received her BSc degree in biochemistry from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, where she studied cancer research; her MPhil degree in molecular biology from the Universiti Malaya; and her PhD in medical biotechnology from the Ulster University of Northern Ireland. She has authored and reviewed numerous articles on biology, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology. Her research work has been supported by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Innovation of Malaysia. She has taught biochemistry and molecular biology at the university for 18 years and has advised undergraduates and also postgraduates working on biochemical and molecular biology research projects. She is a member of the Malaysian Society for Applied Biology and Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biochemistry.
