Short description about the volume:
Bio-pesticides represent a significant shift in pest management by utilizing natural organisms and compounds to control pest populations. Traditional chemical pesticides, are now being reassessed due to their negative impacts on the environment, human health, and their role in fostering pesticide-resistant pest populations. This critical reassessment has led to a burgeoning interest in bio-pesticides as a viable alternative. This book, Bio-Pesticides and Technopreneurship Development, aims to provide an in-depth exploration of the bio-pesticide field, bridging the gap between foundational knowledge and contemporary advancements along with industrial application. It is designed for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders who are dedicated to advancing agricultural practices that prioritize sustainability and environmental health.

The initial chapters offer a comprehensive overview of the different types of bio-pesticides. These include microbial pesticides such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses each of which play a unique role in pest management. In addition to microbial pesticides, the book explores biochemical pesticides derived from natural sources. The subsequent sections of the book focus on recent advancements in bio-pesticides, Plant-Incorporated Protectants (PIPs) and Nano bio-pesticides which have the potential to revolutionize pest management by offering more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions. Regulatory and market trends are also analyzed to provide insights into the frameworks governing bio-pesticide registration and approval. Technological innovations that support bio-pesticides, including precision agriculture, drone applications, and data analytics, will be reviewed. The book further explores green technologies in bio-pesticide production, such as eco-friendly manufacturing methods, circular economy approaches, and strategies for waste reduction and resource efficiency. The start-up ecosystem and funding landscape are examined, highlighting the role of venture capital, government support, and incubators in fostering innovation within the bio-pesticide sector which will offer insights into overcoming obstacles and advancing bio-pesticide adoption in diverse markets. Finally, as editors, we shall venture that the book presents a forward-looking perspective on bio-pesticide adoption trends, the potential impact of synthetic biology and gene editing, and advances in microbial consortia and multi-strain formulations. This book is intended to serve as an authoritative resource for those committed to advancing sustainable pest management practices which would contribute to the development of agricultural practices that harmonize productivity with environmental stewardship.
