Short description about the volume:

Energy access is crucial for poverty alleviation, economic growth and improved living standards of peoples. Yet, the utilization of fossil energy carriers involves a series of undesirable side effects which are less and less tolerated by industrialized societies increasingly sensitized to possible environmental and climate effects at the beginning of the 21st century. The book unfolds as a comprehensive tome, meticulously curated to guide scholars, researchers, and practitioners through the intricate interplay of emerging technologies areas for the utilization of solar energy, geothermal energy and hydrogen energy resources for clean energy generation to meet the energy demand. The book emphasises the sustainable production of biohydrogen through integrated systems and the harmonious coexistence of biomass and hydrogen energy. It looks into whether combining biomass and hydrogen energy is feasible and offers information on how these two renewable energy sources can work together.

The integration of biohydrogen into diesel engines holds significant promise for enhancing overall engine performance while mitigating environmental impacts. Biohydrogen, when blended with diesel fuel, has been found to improve combustion characteristics, resulting in enhanced engine efficiency and reduced emissions of pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM). Moreover, the cleaner combustion of biohydrogen blends can extend the longevity of engine components and reduce maintenance requirements, ultimately resulting in cost savings for operators. Overall, the adoption of biohydrogen in diesel engines presents a promising pathway towards sustainable transportation solutions with improved performance and reduced environmental footprint. The book discusses the difficulties and advancements in biohydrogen energy, looking at catalyst, material, and technological advancements that move hydrogen energy closer to a sustainable and ecologically friendly future. In the last section of the book, various perspectives and state-of-the-art technologies are examined with an emphasis on how hydrogen can be integrated with renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, smart grids, and decarbonisation processes. Due to this integration, this book aims to inspire innovation and foster a deeper understanding of this exciting field.

The book also addresses challenges specific to focus on production, application, and challenges of producing biohydrogen from biomass and provides practical solutions to problems based on real-world case studies. The book aspires to provide a comprehensive reference with a worldwide perspective, appropriate emphasis on environmental considerations, and an examination of future perspectives and scope, thus offering both depth and breadth in the rapidly evolving field of biohydrogen.
